The young man beside Ji Shileng nestled against him, resting his head on his shoulder.
“What’s this supposed to be? Don’t let every ugly thing cling to you” The owner frowned. “He’s getting foundation all over your shirt”
The young man stiffened at being called ugly. Glancing at the foundation smeared on Ji Shileng’s shoulder, he forced an awkwardly sweet smile.
Ji Shileng pushed him away and casually brushed his shoulder twice. “He works for you. You’ll hurt his feelings talking like that”
“What’s there to be hurt about? If he were that sensitive, he wouldn’t be in this line of work” The owner clinked glasses with him again, rallied the group, and shared a few drinks around the table. “What’s going on? Why are there so few good-looking ones?”
Su Ke slung an arm around the owner’s shoulders. “Your hosts and hostesses look down on customers in the downstairs booths. They’d rather make money in the private rooms upstairs. What can we do?”
The owner clapped, and a subordinate behind him bent forward. They exchanged a few quiet words.
He called out to the group, “We had a new batch arrive a couple of days ago. Let’s introduce you boys”
A group of fresh-faced hosts and hostesses emerged from the shadows.
The owner beckoned to the young man in the middle, who promptly stepped forward.
Patting his cheek, the owner indicated Ji Shileng. “See the man in the center? He’s a friend of mine. Look after him properly, and there’ll be plenty of money. Understood?”
Ji Shileng crossed his legs, his peach-blossom eyes curving as he patted the seat beside him.
Instead of sitting, the host gracefully knelt at his feet and leaned against his lap. “I’ve heard so much about you, Young Master Ji. Seeing you in person, you’re breathtaking”
The dim amber lighting around the booths softened everyone’s features.
It had been a long time since Ji Shileng had drunk this much. His eyes shimmered as he pressed his glass against the host’s cheek. “What’s your name?”
“You can call me Xiao Liao” Xiao Liao’s hand moved from Ji Shileng’s calf to his thigh in a deliberate caress.
Ji Shileng remained still and let him.
Beside him, Su Ke held someone in his arms while his money gun sent star-credit notes flying over the booth, drawing endless cheers.
Those being held didn’t bother picking up the money. They clung to their patrons, hoping to spend the night with them.
Those without anyone’s arms around them stood and swayed as they gathered the notes.
“Are you alone tonight, Young Master Ji?” Xiao Liao asked knowingly, his large eyes bright and dewy.
Halfway through his drink, Ji Shileng idly stroked Xiao Liao’s face, his tone thoroughly flirtatious. “Why? Want to come home with me?”
Xiao Liao’s voice was syrupy sweet. “I know I’m not worthy of you, but spending one night with you would already be more than I could ask for”
Having had enough of the money gun, Su Ke turned and saw Ji Shileng pat Xiao Liao’s cheek, lean down to murmur something in his ear, then pour the last mouthful of his drink into the host’s mouth.
Ji Shileng clicked his tongue, not intending to trouble him further.
He pushed Xiao Liao away and started looking for a tissue to wipe the lipstick mark off his neck.
A moment’s inattention had allowed Xiao Liao to snuggle into his arms and kiss him.
Instead of backing off, Xiao Liao grew bolder, settling onto Ji Shileng’s lap and wrapping both hands around his arm. He breathed into his ear. “Are you really not interested in me, Young Master Ji?”
Ji Shileng frowned, only to receive another lipstick mark on his jaw.
He fell silent.
Narrowing his eyes, he caught Xiao Liao’s face in one hand and asked gently, “Was that mouthful of liquor not unpleasant enough for you?”
And he still dared cling to him?
“I thought you were playing a game with me” Xiao Liao smiled with perfect innocence, rosy-lipped and white-toothed, like a rabbit in the snow.
Someone offered Ji Shileng another drink. He released Xiao Liao’s face, the amber liquor gleaming beneath the lights.
He swirled the glass, accidentally spilling some onto his hand.
Xiao Liao tilted his head, released one hand from Ji Shileng’s arm, and softly clasped his wrist instead.
Extending the pink tip of his tongue, he licked the liquor from Ji Shileng’s hand.
He managed to look utterly innocent and utterly seductive at once.
Ji Shileng emptied the glass over his face. “Had enough?”
Xiao Liao wiped his face, his curled lashes soaked with liquor. His voice remained soft. “How could I ever have enough of your drinks, Young Master Ji?”
The surrounding cheers almost drowned out the band.
“Come on, Shileng. Take him home and have some fun. You don’t have anyone anyway”
“He looks obedient. Keep him around for a bit. Something to lift your mood”
“Well, well. So this is your type?”
One of the young heirs refilled his empty glass. Ji Shileng kept his gaze lowered, unmoved throughout. “What if he drinks himself to death?”
Xiao Liao paused, liquor still running down his face.
Forgetting about it, he gently embraced Ji Shileng. “Alive, I’m yours. Dead, I’ll be your ghost. Would that suit you, Young Master Ji?”
Having finished their business, Ji Shifeng stood in the second-floor corridor and watched the whole scene. He badly wanted to laugh, but Ji Shiyun was beside him.
Her expression was thunderous. For now, he didn’t dare laugh too openly, afraid he would be implicated and scolded along with his brother.
On the other side, Qin Si’s expression was even harder to read.
Ji Shiyun asked coldly, “This is the nonsense he gets up to at Shuise?”
Downstairs, Ji Shileng was now leaning close to tell Xiao Liao something, and the host nodded repeatedly with an aggrieved expression.
This time, Ji Shifeng couldn’t hold back his laughter. Any longer and his stomach would hurt. “No idea. I’ve never gone clubbing with him”
Qin Si pressed his lips together, his eyes dark as he stared at Ji Shileng without a word.
He was dressed strikingly tonight, in a wine-red satin shirt with long sleeves. The trailing details at his cuffs swayed with his movements, irresistibly alluring.
His face alone would have been captivating enough.
All across the first floor, countless people were stealing glances at him.
Qin Si surveyed the room, his gaze settling on a figure in the middle of the dance floor.
“Ji Shifeng”
Ji Shifeng was secretly recording Ji Shileng on his communicator. Hearing Qin Si call him, he asked what was wrong.
Qin Si asked quietly, “Doesn’t that person in the middle of the dance floor look like Su Ke?”
The smile that had lasted barely a few minutes vanished from Ji Shifeng’s face.
Su Ke was dancing enthusiastically, each movement beautiful and uninhibited, everyone around him moving along with him.
His outfit was already revealing. Beneath the shifting lights, a glimpse of pale waist flashed into view, making the atmosphere all the more suggestive.
Ji Shiyun looked toward the dance floor and fell silent.
She should have known. Put Ji Shileng and Su Ke together, and nothing particularly respectable would come of it.
Ji Shifeng put away his communicator and gritted his teeth. “It’s late. I’ll tell them to come home. They can’t spend the night in a place like this”
Qin Si followed him. “I’ll go with you”
