Chapter 10: Meeting the Best Actor Again

Su Nuo played games at the office until Fu Baihan finished work. He and Xi Zhou duo-queued all afternoon and climbed several ranks, so he was in a great mood.

Back in his past life, when he was struggling just to get by, forget games, he could barely even pay his phone bill.

Now, looking at the balance on his card, Su Nuo felt very reassured.

What do you do when your brother gives you too much spending money? Save it, of course.

When the little young master went to a banquet, he had to be dressed up properly. A styling team came over, picked out clothes for Su Nuo, and did his hair. No makeup, though. Putting anything on the little young master’s face felt like a waste of a perfect canvas.

Feeling great after all the compliments from the stylists, Su Nuo thanked them and called to Fu Baihan, who was waiting nearby. “Brother, go get the car.”

The stylists held their breath. Whoa, the little young master is treating the CEO like his driver? Is that really okay?

This rich-family brotherly love was so touching. They weren’t related by blood, but they were closer than real brothers. Even real brothers would have a hard time getting along this well.

A banquet like this normally couldn’t get Fu Baihan to show up. He came purely to bring Su Nuo along and let people see his face.

Everyone there, directors and investors alike, was extremely careful around him. After all, once the Fu Group started expanding into entertainment, it had taken the lead in the industry with almost no effort.

At the end of the day, if you had the money to spend, there were very few deals you couldn’t close and very few people you couldn’t bring on board in this business.

Fu Baihan introduced Su Nuo to directors and producers. Su Nuo smiled politely the whole way around, until his face was practically frozen.

He also heard compliments even more over-the-top than the stylists’, so much that he felt like he could take home a little gold statue any second now.

How could you all suck up like this just because Fu Baihan is rich? Is having money really that great?

Okay, having money really was that great. Even the proudest director had to earn a living. When you met an investor willing to spend big, of course you tried your best to make a good impression.

Even if Fu Baihan demanded right there that they give Su Nuo a role, they’d nod and agree.

With a face like the little young master’s, even without acting skills, a bit of image-building would make him famous.

And if that didn’t work, they could always write a script just for him! Of course, that would cost extra.

Su Nuo slipped out to the terrace with his glass, quietly rubbed his face, took a sip of red wine, and hummed a little tune, enjoying the summer night breeze.

He still wanted to get into show business. Not for any other reason, just to prove himself, and to make up for what he’d lost in his past life.

In the end, he had let his fans down and never gave them the ending they deserved. Now that he had a second chance, he wanted to take a different path, so the people who liked him would never be disappointed again.

He wanted to become a shining star. He wanted lots and lots of support and love.

“Are you even of age? Kids shouldn’t drink.” A man’s gentle voice came from behind him.

Su Nuo turned around. Under the mix of night sky and lights, he was so beautiful it was hard to look away.

Even this Best Actor, who had seen plenty of beautiful people in the industry, was caught off guard for a moment.

When Su Nuo saw who it was, a mix of emotions hit him. He had no desire to talk to him and was about to leave.

“Which agency are you with?” Wei Sinian stopped him and asked.

Su Nuo’s lips curved slightly. “I haven’t debuted yet.”

Wei Sinian frowned a little. If he hadn’t debuted, why was he at this banquet? Who brought him?

Since he’d arrived late, Wei Sinian hadn’t seen Su Nuo come in with Fu Baihan. He assumed Su Nuo was some newbie a manager had squeezed in to chase opportunities.

Su Nuo caught his attention right away, because he looked exactly like the young general in the script Wei Sinian had just received, a role they still hadn’t found the right person for.

They had auditioned countless people and weren’t happy with any of them. The director was even thinking about pushing back filming. Su Nuo’s appearance made Wei Sinian’s eyes light up.

Whatever his acting was like, on looks alone, no one fit better.

The boy in front of him could only be described as beautiful, but there was something cool and distant between his brows, with a sharp edge and a proud air. He was bright yet otherworldly, proud yet elegant.

“Here’s my card.” Wei Sinian made the first move. “There’s a role that would suit you really well. If you’d like to audition, you can contact me.”

Su Nuo looked at the card. For a moment, Wei Sinian thought he’d be turned down flat, but after thinking it over, the boy took it from his hand.

Of course Su Nuo knew which role he meant. In his past life, this was the very film that started his acting career.

Wei Sinian was the one who discovered him and gave him his big break, and the senior who guided him and looked out for him. Thanks to Wei Sinian, Su Nuo rose quickly in the industry, and in less than a year became a hot young star.

Back then, Fu Baihan was gone, and Su Yuchen only had eyes for Su Yujin. The longing and dependence Su Nuo felt toward a “big brother” figure shifted, at least a little, onto Wei Sinian. And many times, Wei Sinian treated him a lot like Fu Baihan used to, indulgent and patient, which pulled Su Nuo in even deeper.

But later, all that closeness with Wei Sinian became the very thing that got him attacked online.

They accused him of leeching off Wei Sinian to climb the ladder, and cursed him for seducing Wei Sinian and clinging to him. Smear posts were everywhere, and it pushed his already fragile mental state even closer to the edge.

He thought Wei Sinian would step forward and explain. Even if he didn’t stand up for him in the middle of the storm, even just one private word of comfort would have given Su Nuo some hope.

But Su Nuo waited and waited, and what he finally got was Wei Sinian publicly saying he deeply regretted working with him, that he had a bad character and wasn’t worth knowing.

What was Wei Sinian’s status in the industry? He was a long-established Best Actor with a fanbase bigger than anyone’s. His words were like throwing fuel on a fire that was already raging, and they made Su Nuo suffer even more.

During that time, Su Nuo’s mental state got so bad that he needed medication. He couldn’t understand how a good friendship could end up like this, or what he had done to make Wei Sinian hate him so much.

Later he understood. Wei Sinian’s attitude had nothing to do with what Su Nuo did. It was all about what Su Yujin said.

As long as Su Yujin played the victim, Su Nuo was an unforgivable villain who deserved to be condemned and spat on.

Su Yujin. That name was like a curse that could never be erased. Whenever it showed up, it dragged Su Nuo into the abyss.

Now, looking at Wei Sinian’s gentle face, Su Nuo smiled. “I’ll get in touch, Best Actor Wei.”

Wei Sinian felt something was a little off about his tone, but didn’t think much of it and nodded. “I’m looking forward to it. I hope we get the chance to work together.”

Su Nuo turned his back to him and waved. “Oh, you’ll get your chance.”
