Chapter 102: Forced into Love by My Sworn Enemy (51)

“What I hate most is anyone who opposes me or stands in my way. I’m only targeting the Lin Group because of you. If you were gone, naturally I would stop.”

Having said that, Qin Feng leisurely studied the conflicting emotions on Lin Huaiqing’s face.

To him, the Lin Group was nothing but a tiny ant he could crush at a whim.

Lin Huaiqing was an even more ridiculous clown.

After spending his life opposing Qin Feng, hadn’t he still ended up begging on his knees like a dog?

What Qin Feng enjoyed most was the satisfaction of revenge.

The fear or hatred in an enemy’s eyes nourished his ambition.

Those who obeyed him prospered. Those who opposed him perished.

Every kindness would be repaid. Every grievance would be avenged.

“Well? Have you thought it through? If I were you, I’d go back and sell the Lin Group now. You might still recover your investment.”

Driving someone to their death was not really his intention. He only wanted to watch his enemies lose what they valued most and see the anguish on their faces.

He did not believe Lin Huaiqing would truly be foolish enough to trade his life for a barely surviving company.

But Lin Huaiqing smiled with relief.

Qin Feng had never seen that kind of smile on someone who had lost. It carried an almost grateful sense of, “Thank goodness that’s all.”

“Do you mean that?”

“Of course.”

“All right! As long as you stop pressuring the Lin Group’s business partners after I die, I’ll accept your solution!”

Qin Feng’s eyes widened in disbelief. The air of inscrutability he had so carefully cultivated vanished.

“What did you say? Lin Huaiqing, have you actually gone mad?”

“I’ve already handed the company over to Lin Yu. It can keep running without me. So you’ll keep your word, won’t you?”

“You’re mad. You really are mad. If you want to die, fine. Sign a liability waiver first. Don’t drag me into it!”

As far as Qin Feng was concerned, Lin Huaiqing was playing games.

Did he think a few crazy declarations would fool Qin Feng into going soft?

Ridiculous!

Or perhaps he thought Qin Fan would help him again.

Whatever the explanation, no one would willingly go to their death.

Even Qin Feng would not go that far to protect the Qin Group.

If Lin Huaiqing wanted to put on a performance, Qin Feng would see to it that he had no graceful way to end it.

“I’ll have them draft the waiver right now. Do you dare sign it?”

“Include a clause ending all commercial pressure against the Lin Group. If you dare deceive me, I won’t let you off even as a ghost!”

“Fine. As you wish.”

An hour later, two copies of the liability agreement lay before Qin Feng and Lin Huaiqing.

With a few decisive strokes, Lin Huaiqing signed his name.

Qin Feng signed as well. He was simply waiting to see how Lin Huaiqing intended to bring this little performance to a close.

Even a quick glance showed how craftily the agreement had been drafted, absolving Qin Feng of every trace of responsibility.

The Qin Group’s professional legal team certainly delivered thorough work.

“Everything is settled now. After you, Young Master Lin!”

Unfazed, Lin Huaiqing followed Qin Feng into the elevator.

The villa had five floors with high ceilings. A leap from the rooftop offered almost no chance of survival.

Bitter winds swept across the terrace. Looking at the view below, Lin Huaiqing suddenly felt a calm readiness to face death.

He was about to go home. How could he not be happy?

Even now, he had the leisure to joke with Qin Feng.

“Mr. Qin, once I jump, this villa of yours will be a house someone died in.”

“What? Are you frightened? There’s still time to change your mind.”

Qin Feng stood some distance behind him.

A nearby camera recorded everything. No one could accuse him of pushing Lin Huaiqing.

“I’m certainly not changing my mind. I just hope you won’t regret it either!”

The biting wind swept through Lin Huaiqing’s hair, as though offering a final farewell.

He had already made an arrangement with his system. A moment before impact, it would pull his soul from his body.

He would feel no pain.

“All right, stop stalling. Qin Fan will be here shortly. You’re still hoping he’ll plead for you, aren’t you? After all, you two have shared a bed…”

Qin Feng’s mockery was cut short by a heavy thud, like something weighty striking the ground.

Qin Fan had just stepped out of his car and was about to go inside when a large, dark shape fell from above.

He instinctively took half a step back, narrowly avoiding it.

An instant later, it struck the gravel path beside his feet.

Just as he felt relieved that he had not been hit, hot liquid carrying the smell of blood splashed across his face and body.

He wiped his face. Only then did he see that what had fallen from above was a person.

On the rooftop, Qin Feng came to his senses and hurried to look down.

Lin Huaiqing’s body lay on the ground. Dark red blood seeped from his shattered form, staining the white snow.

Beside him stood Qin Fan, whom Qin Feng had summoned with an urgent phone call, frozen in place and covered in Lin Huaiqing’s blood.

The mocking expression solidified on Qin Feng’s face. He stood rooted to the spot as though struck by lightning.

“Lin Huaiqing!”

A raw, agonized scream dragged Qin Feng back to reality.

Qin Fan knelt on the ground, holding the lifeless Lin Huaiqing in his arms. He seemed to have lost his mind, murmuring incessantly—but not as though offering prayers for the dead.

Qin Feng rushed downstairs in a panic. Only when he came close enough did he hear the words his brother kept repeating:

“Huaiqing, why didn’t you wait for me…”

【Ding! Host has successfully exited the world. Loading subsequent plot developments…】

Lin Huaiqing awoke in an empty void. Nothing surrounded him but an entirely white world.

It felt as though he had just had a very, very long dream. However real the events in a dream might seem, they would gradually fade after waking.

He rubbed his aching head.

He really could not try jumping off a building again.

Although the jump had been part of a simulation, what he felt during the fall had been overwhelmingly real.

Everything he had experienced in his life had flashed through his mind like a succession of slides.

He had even seen Qin Du’s and Qin Fan’s faces. Only then had he suddenly realized how much the two resembled each other.

One wore ancient robes, the other modern clothes, but they looked as though they had been cast from the same mold.

“System, how much longer before I can return to the real world?”

【Please wait a moment, Host. Your completion progress for this world has reached 100%. Would you like to view the final outcome?】

“The final outcome? Is that what the system update added?”

After completing a mission and leaving a world, a host could now view the full endings of everyone in it.

It would probably just be Qin Feng and Shen Jingyi getting back together and having ten babies at once. These domineering-CEO stories were all the same. Nothing worth watching.

The original owner’s ending had been truly miserable. After suffering Qin Feng’s inhuman humiliation, he had fallen into despair, become addicted to drugs, and squandered the Lin family’s entire fortune.

Eventually, he had died an unfortunate, wretched death.

Now Lin Huaiqing had chosen to jump instead. Not only had he preserved the precarious Lin Group, but he could also consider his death somewhat more dignified.

Ultimately, the ending he cared about most was Qin Fan’s.

The system had once inadvertently revealed that Qin Fan was the true villain of this world.

His ending was probably little better than Lin Huaiqing’s own.

Only after bracing himself did Lin Huaiqing dare to keep watching.
