Chapter 13: Big Brother’s Good Boy

Su Nuo didn’t say anything. He didn’t want to ruin the mood of the reunion, and there was really no need to have it out with Yu Ning in front of the teachers. He was here to say goodbye, not to cause a scene.

Yu Ning was clearly trying to win him over, but Su Nuo wasn’t having it. Every time he looked at Yu Ning’s face, he couldn’t help remembering how coldly Yu Ning had called him vicious.

Sorry, but I’m really not a nice person.

Su Nuo didn’t feel the least bit bad about it. He simply treated Yu Ning like he was invisible.

Of course, the strange vibe between the two of them caught their classmates’ attention. They were both popular, after all. Everyone knew the best-looking guys in the whole school were right here. Every year when it came to voting for the school heartthrob, the final picks always came down to three people from their class: Su Nuo, Yu Ning, and Xi Zhou.

Good-looking guys hanging out together wasn’t anything special. But Yu Ning and Su Nuo had years of childhood-friend chemistry and closeness that ordinary buddies didn’t have. Seeing them eat lunch together every day and play ball together in PE always got the girls super excited. No other reason. They were just obsessed with shipping them.

But who could have guessed! The childhood-friend couple the girls had already declared “locked in forever” got a bad ending the very summer after the college entrance exam?

But why?!

The members of the basketball team had seen Su Nuo and Yu Ning’s last argument, so of course it wasn’t a secret. No one understood what had happened between them, but everyone thought it was a shame.

With a face like Su Nuo’s, he naturally had the upper hand. Even without knowing why, everyone agreed it should be Yu Ning’s job to win him back.

But from the looks of it… Su Nuo wasn’t budging at all!

Su Nuo was chatting happily with Xi Zhou, completely unaware that all the girls at the reunion were secretly watching them, their faces full of curiosity.

Nuonuo, what’s so fun about Xi Zhou? He has a girlfriend! Turn around and look at Yu Ning! Was everything between you two fake?!

The heartbroken shippers’ eyes said it all.

One look and you could tell: they were all sisters shipping the childhood-friend couple.

These days, marriage wasn’t limited by gender anymore, and people were much more accepting of same-sex couples. Su Nuo had never said anything about his sexuality, but in three years of high school he’d received countless love letters and never looked twice at any girl, and he was always glued to Yu Ning. So it was only natural that people would pair them up in their heads.

Even if they couldn’t have the hot guys themselves, getting to watch the hot guys be sweet with each other was good enough.

Knowing Su Nuo and Yu Ning had been classmates since kindergarten, no one ever thought there’d be a day when the two of them drifted this far apart.

Su Nuo was easygoing and well-liked, the type girls adored and guys didn’t mind. He fit in easily and was always looked after.

Usually, when he and Yu Ning hung out, he was the one who livened things up. After three years of shipping, the girls had been hoping to see Yu Ning make a move. But just as they finally saw it, they got hit with a bad ending.

Still, you had to keep dreaming. Whatever was going on between these two childhood friends, outsiders couldn’t get involved. Who knew, maybe they’d make up after a while?

Help me up, I can still ship!

“Su Nuo, we’re going to karaoke after dinner. You in?” When the reunion dinner wrapped up, everyone got ready for round two. Checking the time and knowing Su Nuo had a curfew, the guys winked at him. “You still can’t go out even after finishing the exam?”

In the past, Su Nuo would definitely have gotten rebellious, ignored Fu Baihan’s messages, and run off to party until midnight. But now he really thought his teenage self had been way too immature.

How could he bear to leave his hardworking brother all alone at home!

Taking care of lonely CEOs starts today.

He’d had a little fruit wine, and his cheeks were slightly flushed. He rested his chin in his hand. “I’m not going. You guys have fun. My brother’s waiting for me at home.”

The guys started teasing him. “Aww, you really are your big brother’s good boy…”

Su Nuo grinned. “Yep, I sure am.”

The teachers left early and didn’t join the second round. Su Nuo walked out with his homeroom teacher, who gave him another pep talk at the restaurant entrance. He listened obediently, and the teacher couldn’t resist patting his head. “When you become a famous actor someday, I’m going to go around bragging about you.”

Su Nuo smiled. “And I’ll come back to school and brag to the younger students about what an amazing homeroom teacher I had.”

“You and your sweet talk.” Beaming from ear to ear, the teacher waved his hand. “All right, go have fun. I’m heading home.”

“Get home safe, sir,” Su Nuo said.

The classmates saw their teacher off together. Xi Zhou threw an arm around Su Nuo’s shoulders. “I always knew our homeroom teacher liked you best.”

“Because I’m lovable.” Su Nuo looked smug.

“I think it’s because you’re shameless.” Xi Zhou laughed and gave him a punch. “Want me to take you home?”

“No need.” Su Nuo pulled out his phone. “My brother’s picking me up.”

At the thought of Fu Baihan, Xi Zhou shivered and even put a little distance between himself and Su Nuo. Everyone in the capital’s elite circle knew how terrifying Fu Baihan was.

Only this little dummy Su Nuo had caught that man’s eye and was spoiled and protected by him. Nobody else had ever seen Fu Baihan’s soft side. In business, you were lucky if he didn’t dig a hole and bury you alive.

Xi Zhou felt a little jealous. Being the little brother must be nice. Why couldn’t his parents have given him an amazing big brother like Fu Baihan? Then he could eat, drink, and have fun without any pressure, instead of having to trade away his future just for the freedom to study photography.

Su Nuo said goodbye to his classmates, and Yu Ning followed after him. “Nuonuo, can we talk?”

Su Nuo kept his eyes on his phone and ignored him. He called Fu Baihan, and after just a few seconds, the call connected. “Nuonuo, is the reunion over?”

Su Nuo nodded, then remembered Fu Baihan couldn’t see him and said, “Yeah, it’s over.” He dragged out his words. “Brother, come pick me up~”

Fu Baihan chuckled softly. “I’ll have the driver come get you.”

Su Nuo whined at him. “No, I want you to come.” He lowered his voice. “Hurry, or some bad guy’s gonna snatch me away.”

Fu Baihan was helpless but indulgent as always. “Wait there.”

At a restaurant owned by their own group, who could possibly snatch the little young master? He’d already had people keeping an eye on him from the start.

What could he do? The kid had been so clingy lately. But compared to how rebellious he used to be, this was much cuter.

He’d grown up. He wasn’t running around with bad company anymore, and he finally knew his big brother was the best.

Fu Baihan was deeply pleased and felt like sending his little brother some money.

That’s just how simple and down-to-earth domineering CEOs are when it comes to showing love.

“Nuonuo,” Yu Ning insisted.

Su Nuo finally looked straight at him. “Didn’t I tell you not to contact me anymore?”

“I can’t do that.” Yu Ning softened his voice. “Nuonuo, I haven’t seen you in so long. Qiaoqiao misses you too.”

Qiaoqiao was a stray cat they had taken care of together. After the exam, Yu Ning took her home. Since Fu Baihan was allergic to cat hair, Su Nuo couldn’t keep her himself.

Hearing that, a memory of the little cat came back to him, and he couldn’t help missing her a little.
