Chapter 46: Stargazing Together

The man who’d wanted to invite Fu Baihan to a hotel room could only look enviously at the young man sheltered in his arms, then walk away disappointed.

There was no breaking this couple up. Seeing how spoiled and pampered Su Nuo looked, the man had already figured he’d be turned down. He just hadn’t wanted to give up without trying. And in the end, not only was he rejected, he had to watch them be all lovey-dovey too.

Tsk. Can the little guy really handle a boyfriend that intense?

Once he was gone, Su Nuo looked up from Fu Baihan’s arms and accused him. “Brother, is this your grown-up world?”

It’s no better than Ji Xinghui! At least Ji Xinghui only sleeps with one person at a time!

“Who insisted on coming here?” Fu Baihan patted his back, making it clear this wasn’t his fault.

Su Nuo held out his hand. “Don’t care. I want extra pay.”

“Little money-grubber. What did you even do to earn extra?” Fu Baihan poked his forehead. “You didn’t even finish the scene. Unprofessional.”

“How was I supposed to know his script was that wild? I’m an innocent good boy! My soul’s been wounded. I need compensation!” Su Nuo argued.

Acting was fun, but that was still extra.

Pay up!

“One ice cream,” Fu Baihan said. That’s what an innocent good boy was worth.

“That’s it?” Su Nuo reached into his pocket, trying to swipe his wallet. “Brother, it’s not like you’re broke. Don’t be so cheap.”

“After buying that yacht, I really am broke.” Fu Baihan caught the kid’s mischievous wrist. “Sweetie, quit while you’re ahead, or there’ll be no ice cream at all.”

Su Nuo pouted. “…Then I want ice cream scoops. The three-scoop kind.”

“Okay.” Fu Baihan agreed. Look at his poor kid, so easy to please.

On the way out of the bar, Su Nuo looked back, puzzled. “Why is everyone staring at me?”

Fu Baihan put an arm around his shoulders. “Probably checking whether we’re really a couple.”

They’re looking because you’re cute.

Su Nuo’s professionalism kicked in immediately, and he wrapped his arms around Fu Baihan’s waist. “Don’t worry, Brother. I come with after-sales service.”

He said “Brother” with such heroic gusto that even though they were cuddled up, Fu Baihan didn’t feel any romantic tension at all. It just felt like they’d sworn brotherhood on Mount Liang and were ready to go through fire and blood together.

Turns out what relaxed him wasn’t the trip. It was the kid beside him, mischievous and clever and absolutely adorable.

Without Su Nuo, no matter how long the vacation, Fu Baihan wouldn’t be in such a good mood.

Su Nuo had a blast the few days they were there. When it came to traveling, there was nothing better than going with someone as mature as Fu Baihan.

He shouldn’t have complained that his brother was old-fashioned and boring. He was clearly the most thoughtful, considerate brother in the world.

Su Nuo didn’t have to think about anything or worry about anything wherever they went. All he had to decide was what to eat and what to do each day. Fu Baihan took care of everything else.

Of course, Su Nuo felt he was contributing too, with his admirer-blocking after-sales service. Whenever anyone came up to flirt, he’d instantly cling to Fu Baihan and pretend to be his little boyfriend, buying him some peace and quiet.

“Brother, if there’s someone you like, let me know ahead of time so I don’t scare them off by accident,” Su Nuo reminded him.

The handsome foreign guys around here each had their own charm, but Su Nuo figured Fu Baihan’s taste was pretty traditional and he probably wouldn’t go for such fiery men. Still, just in case Fu Baihan did like someone, Su Nuo would have to go explain things to them. What a hassle.

Fu Baihan had always spoiled him like this. Pretending to be a couple just meant they were a little closer sometimes. Nothing else about how they acted changed. So Su Nuo’s fees were very reasonable. Feed him something delicious every day and his service was renewed.

What an ethical actor!

Watching the kid lounge in a hammock playing on his iPad while he set up the tent, Fu Baihan thought silently: when would he even have time to think about romance? All his patience went into taking care of this kid.

Out shopping and eating was when the most people came to flirt. Out here, it was quiet and peaceful. No need to use the script for now.

Fu Baihan knew those people weren’t only after him. His kid looked young and innocent, but he caught just as many eyes.

But Su Nuo was clueless and treated every single one of them like Fu Baihan’s unwanted admirers, immediately asking who exactly Fu Baihan loved and chasing them off.

“Come help,” Fu Baihan called. “Or no dinner.”

Su Nuo was lying there comfortably. Called down to work, it didn’t take long before he started whining. “I don’t know how. These instructions are too confusing.”

“Then hand me the tools.” Fu Baihan took the instructions from him. “Sweetie, do you really have fans?”

“Wow, who are you looking down on? My movie’s not even out and I already have fifty thousand fans!” Su Nuo huffed.

Living off his looks, and totally unapologetic about it.

The industry’s most devoted yet most fickle fans, the ones who followed for looks, had almost all been drawn in by his official stills and behind-the-scenes clips and added him to their follow lists.

Whether or not this pretty boy got famous someday, looking at photos of a face like that every day was worth it.

“Impressive.” Fu Baihan chuckled. “Do your fans know how lazy you are?”

The perfect idol, his image crumbling live. Everyone thought he was a cool, confident heartthrob. Actually he was a spoiled little crybaby who was very good at whining.

Su Nuo picked up a hammer. “Uh oh. Looks like I’ll have to silence the witness.”

Fu Baihan ruffled his hair. “Stop acting. Behave.”

Su Nuo also figured that holding these tools didn’t make him any threat to Fu Baihan. The gap in strength was way too big. A “weapon” wasn’t going to close it.

“The guy who’s been following us these past two days. Does he know you?” After setting up the tent and stuffing the kid inside, Fu Baihan finally asked.

Su Nuo knew he meant Chu Boyan and didn’t know how to answer for a moment. “Um… probably?”

Fu Baihan frowned. “When we get back, I’m getting you two bodyguards.”

His kid being popular was one thing, but someone stubbornly chasing him like that clearly had poor character.

Su Nuo didn’t argue. When his brother said something like that, it meant it was already decided.

He didn’t know what was going on with Chu Boyan. In his past life, he’d accepted Chu Boyan’s invitation the very first time they met, and things between them stayed lukewarm afterward. Could getting rejected this time have made Chu Boyan find him interesting?

Was he an idiot? Pulling the whole domineering CEO “you’ve successfully caught my attention” routine?

Su Nuo looked at the real domineering CEO beside him. Ahem. Real domineering CEOs didn’t have time to say cringey lines. After setting up the tent, he still had to get the grill going.

The point of camping was to enjoy the countryside out here, far from the noise and bustle of the city, and find some peace of mind.

“Brother, one more skewer!” Su Nuo chirped.

Handing him one, Fu Baihan wondered what exactly he’d chosen camping for. To be a driver? Or to wait on this little lazybones?

Su Nuo held some food up to his mouth. “Brother, the stuff you made is so good. Try it?”

Fu Baihan leaned down and took a bite. Fine. His little brother was this cute. This was all just part of the job.

At dusk, as they waited outside the tent for night to fall so they could see the stars, Su Nuo flipped through the photos on the memory card and held one up to show Fu Baihan. “Why did you make me look so ugly?”

Fu Baihan didn’t get it. “How is that ugly? It looks great.”

Su Nuo: “…” You’re a straight guy at heart, aren’t you?

After a quick lesson on photography tips, Su Nuo shoved the camera back into his hands. “Retake it! I’m posting on Weibo in a bit!”

The photos that came out in the end were passable. Su Nuo picked a few with nice scenery and uploaded them straight to Weibo.

His manager didn’t put any restrictions on the little young master, so he posted whatever he wanted. He hadn’t posted in days, so the moment he did, fans flooded in so fast he couldn’t even refresh.

“Baby Nuonuo went to Switzerland?”

“Aaaah he looks so hot in modern clothes too!!!”

“Hubby, look at me, I’m your new girlfriend”

“I’m dying. The Best Actor mentions Nuonuo every day and Nuonuo never logs on. Now the second he posts, the Best Actor’s the first to like it again. He definitely has notifications turned on for him, right?”

“Hahahahahaha I’m a Best Actor fan, but I have to say it: Wei Sinian, look who finally got a taste of his own medicine!”

“Same. Wei Sinian, now you know how we felt chasing you!!!”

“That said, Baby Nuonuo, please just reply to him once! The Best Actor’s so pitiful!”

“He replied, he replied! Hahahahahaha, ‘thank you, senior’ again. Baby, do you not know any other words? Come on, repeat after me. Just tell him: ‘Thanks, hubby!’”

“I didn’t want to ship it. The Best Actor made me come here…”

Wei Sinian’s fans paid close attention to him. Su Nuo knew that, so he never deliberately played hard to get by not replying to Wei Sinian. But he was always polite and formal about it.

It had been two weeks since he wrapped, and Wei Sinian was still liking his posts. Had Wei Sinian sunk so low that he wanted to cash in on shipping buzz?

Surely not. Wei Sinian wasn’t some flash-in-the-pan idol with no real work. Why would he need to hype a ship?

That night, looking up at the sky full of stars, Su Nuo took more photos and posted them on Weibo. Since he’d started posting, and he was in a good mood today, he was happy to share.

Xi Zhou messaged him directly, dripping with envy. “Still in Switzerland? What’s even fun there this time of year?”

Su Nuo called him back, grinning. “Xi Zhou! Are you stuck grinding away at work?”

Xi Zhou scoffed. “You talk too much.”

Except for this kid who was treated like a treasure, whose kid at this age didn’t have to go learn the ropes at the family company?

Even choosing a college was the same. To run the company someday, everyone had to study finance. Who got to be like Su Nuo, going to film school and acting in movies?

So jealous he could cry!

Why didn’t they have a big brother? If they had a brother like Fu Baihan, they wouldn’t have to work so hard!

Su Nuo’s voice was cheerful. “I’m camping and stargazing. We went skiing a couple days ago. I was having so much fun I forgot to text you. Did you miss me?”

Xi Zhou: “Miss you? I think you should just stay there and never come back!”

Always showing off. Hmph!

He’d barely snapped at him when he heard Fu Baihan’s voice. “Xi Zhou, what did you say?”

Xi Zhou immediately chickened out. “N-nothing. I just miss Nuonuo.”
