Chapter 87: Goodnight Kiss

Su Jing could hardly believe it. “If you don’t like blind dates, I won’t set any up. You don’t need to make something up to placate me.”

Fu Baihan: “……”

What untrustworthy image did his mother have of him, exactly?

Su Jing studied her son’s calm face, paused, then asked, “There really is someone?”

Fu Baihan said, “Why would I lie to you about that?”

Su Jing’s interest was instantly piqued. However elegant and refined a woman might be, she couldn’t help being curious about her son’s love life. Su Jing had always wondered what kind of person would finally make her son’s heart move.

“Are you already together? When are you bringing them home?” she asked.

She didn’t doubt how serious Fu Baihan was about love. When a Fu man fell for someone, it was for life. If he’d told her this plainly, he’d bring them home someday.

Fu Baihan looked past his mother at the kid not far away, ears perked, eavesdropping. He thought: isn’t he already home? And far more doted on than me, the actual son.

But it wasn’t the right time to lay all his cards on the table, so Fu Baihan lowered his eyes. “He’s shy. I’ll tell you later.”

“Okay, okay, you decide.” Su Jing beamed. “Be good to her. Don’t always keep such a cold face, or the girl will think you’re boring.”

“It’s not a girl,” Fu Baihan said simply.

Su Jing: “……?!”

Fu Baihan’s expression was serious. “Mom, he’s the only one I like.”

Su Jing took a breath. “Actually, I’ve been mentally prepared for this for a long time. It’s fine, it’s perfectly normal, and I support you. But your father is a bit old-fashioned. Don’t tell him yet. Let me talk him around first.”

Her son had never dated, and Su Jing had long suspected he might like men, or might simply be uninterested in romance altogether… Now that she had the answer, it was easier to accept.

Fu Mingyuan was a different story, though. In a sense, the Fu family really did have a “throne” to pass down.

Afraid of sparking a family war between father and son, Su Jing decided to bring him around gradually, a little at a time.

Fu Baihan nodded. “Thanks, Mom.”

With his mother on board, there was basically no problem. His father was just a paper tiger who was scared of his wife.

After Su Nuo finished his late-night snack, Su Jing called him over and, behind Fu Baihan’s back, asked him secretively, “Sweetie, who’s your brother been close to lately?”

Su Nuo put his acting skills to work and kept his cool. “I haven’t noticed. Ge’s always so busy.”

Besides me, when would he have time for anyone else?

“Even you don’t know, sweetie?” Su Jing mused. “He’s really keeping it under wraps.”

Su Nuo thought: not exactly. After all, Ge only just found out he has a boyfriend…

Su Jing looked worried. “Baihan doesn’t meet many people. It couldn’t be Xinghui, could it?”

Su Nuo nearly choked on his own spit. He turned away and coughed twice. “Auntie, what’s going on with Ge?”

Su Jing whispered to him, “Your brother’s in a relationship.”

Seeing the kid’s expression looked a bit off, Su Jing patted his back reassuringly. “It’s all right, sweetie. Even if your brother gets married, he’ll always be good to you. If he dares treat you differently, Auntie will beat him up.”

Su Nuo nodded along with vague noises, cringing so hard his toes could have dug out the Louvre.

What on earth had Ge been telling her!

His life was so hard. Even at home he had to act. This counted as overtime.

Back in his room, he saw Fu Baihan coming over with a glass of milk and said reproachfully, “Auntie thinks you’re dating Star-ge.”

On the surface he was a CEO who could have his pick of anyone, but in reality his social circle was tiny. No wonder Su Jing thought of Ji Xinghui. Fu Baihan didn’t have many friends he saw regularly. Everyone else was a business partner.

After all, getting close to him was nearly impossible. Even if you met him at a banquet and exchanged business cards, it wouldn’t be his personal number.

Fu Baihan’s lips curved. “Doesn’t my sweetie know exactly who I’m with?”

Su Nuo, red-faced, pushed him toward the door. Before, he’d deliberately flirted with him and found every excuse to climb into his bed and sleep in his arms. Now that they’d confessed, he’d gone shy.

“Not going back tonight?” Fu Baihan asked. “There’s time if you get up early tomorrow.”

“We’ll go back tomorrow.” Su Nuo already had his hand on the doorknob, then felt it would be a waste to let him go just like that. He pouted. “Ge, kiss.”

He needed a goodnight kiss to confirm that his brother had really become his boyfriend.

Forget a kiss. With his little treasure looking this adorable, he’d give him his life if he asked.

Fu Baihan bent and kissed his lips. “Come to my room?”

Su Nuo pushed him out. “Good night, see you tomorrow!”

What kind of pervy thing to say! How could he invite someone to sleep together right after they’d started dating?

A certain little rascal had clearly forgotten who’d used every excuse in the book to get someone to sleep with him every night.

In the literal sense, of course. Just sleeping.

After he lay down, his phone chimed. Su Nuo picked it up. It was a message from Fu Baihan: “Good night.”

He hugged his pillow and rolled around on the bed twice. His hair was a mess, and the heat in his face hadn’t faded once.

Aaah, is this what dating feels like?

And in the room next door, behind the parents’ backs. It had the thrill of a secret affair. Ugh, so exciting.

Su Nuo read the message over and over. Unable to contain his glee, he opened his Moments and posted: “I love my Ge the most!”

Clearly an inexperienced newbie at dating.

But no one else knew he was dating. After all, everyone knew he was obsessed with his brother. Even his fans knew from his livestream that the kid they stanned had a super handsome, long-legged big brother, and the moment his brother came up, he’d automatically switch into bragging mode, cocky and adorable. A kid who was spoiled rotten.

Seeing his post, Ji Xinghui screenshotted it and sent it to Fu Baihan. “How did you trick Nuonuo? Look how bewitched the kid is.”

As the only one in the know, he spared no effort teasing Fu Baihan.

Talk about asking for trouble. That was Ji Xinghui.

He knew he couldn’t win, yet he just had to keep running his mouth.

Looking at Su Nuo’s post, Fu Baihan couldn’t stop smiling. How could his little treasure be this sweet?

If he’d known it would be this wonderful, he wouldn’t have spent so long quietly agonizing. He’d been worrying over nothing. Overthinking sometimes makes you miss out.

“What would you know?” Fu Baihan replied to Ji Xinghui, brimming with the smugness of life’s winner.

What would a playboy cad know about the beauty of love?

The playboy cad truly was a cad. But as the saying goes, brute strength beats skill. However good he was at toying with hearts, once he was pinned down in bed he couldn’t make any waves. He could only be tossed around by them.

Ji Xinghui even thought, in a fit of self-abandon: Ji Xinghai is annoying, but his technique isn’t bad. It really felt good. If only he weren’t my brother.

He’d always liked the obedient type he could control. Now he suddenly found that a fierce wolf cub had its own appeal.

But who would tame whom was still undecided. Neither of them had won.

“You do like him.” Ji Xinghai came out of the shower, glimpsed Su Nuo’s profile picture on Ji Xinghui’s phone screen, and leaned over to bite his neck. He said resentfully, “Ge, he’s faking it all.”

A green-tea little drama queen. What’s there to like?

Ji Xinghui impatiently shoved his head away. “Get lost. That’s enough for today.”

Ji Xinghai was a little hurt but didn’t show it. Ji Xinghui wouldn’t care anyway.

“Is this all we are to each other?” he asked.

Ji Xinghui looked at him, his mouth curling in a sneer. “What else? So many people want into my bed. You’re nothing special.”

He was doing it on purpose, of course. For the wolf cub hollowing out his power at the company, he’d vent his anger however he could.

He’d been planning to walk away from it all, but destroying something yourself and having it snatched away by someone else were two completely different things.

Ji Xinghui was used to being in control. Suddenly suffering such a big loss made him want to kill Ji Xinghai.

In the end, it was because he’d underestimated his opponent and given him an opening. At the company, and in bed.

“Ge, don’t say things like that.” Ji Xinghai was smiling, but his voice was icy, a twisted contrast. “I don’t like hearing it.”

Ji Xinghui was rebellious and untamable to the bone. Even having just tumbled into bed with him, it didn’t stop him from stepping on a sore spot now.

Once you see things clearly, you’re not the one who loses. Ji Xinghui hadn’t agonized for long over who was on top. Or rather, in bed, he didn’t have much pride or moral hang-ups to begin with.

As long as he enjoyed himself, he’d consider it a free ride.

Paying was out of the question. Ji Xinghai could forget about getting the treatment his old lovers had. He was lucky not to get slapped.

Toss them when you’re bored. That was another of his principles.

Yet the one who’d said “that’s enough” ended up worked up again by the wolf cub’s kisses and bites, and they tangled together once more.

Ji Xinghai felt hollow inside. Even skin to skin, he felt Ji Xinghui was so far away, too far to ever hold on to. When he got a little too rough, Ji Xinghui grabbed his hair and snapped, “Ji Xinghai, do you want to die?”

Ji Xinghai: “……”

Why did he feel so sad? Probably because he realized he was being treated like a human sex toy.

Not a shred of status.

He knew Ji Xinghui was deliberately getting back at him and most likely planned to toss him aside after having his fun. But he couldn’t help it. He was determined to fall into this trap.

Nothing was out of reach, as long as he was strong enough.

Ji Xinghai held a deep grudge against Su Nuo, not only because he suspected Ji Xinghui liked him, but out of envy for his sunny, carefree life.

There were just people like that in the world, who didn’t have to do anything and still got everything others couldn’t.

But when he saw Su Nuo being harassed at a cocktail party, Ji Xinghai still went over and shoved the man aside. Seeing his vicious glare, the man quickly slunk away.

Su Nuo hadn’t expected to run into this at a party with investors, and he certainly hadn’t expected Ji Xinghai of all people to help him.

In his eyes, Ji Xinghai was extremely dangerous, someone to stay as far away from as possible.

But since Ji Xinghai had helped him out, he still thanked him. Ji Xinghai just gave him a cold look and walked off.

Su Nuo was baffled. He didn’t think he’d ever offended Ji Xinghai.
