Their eyes met. Su Nuo’s face was one big question mark; he even wondered whether something was wrong with his hearing.
No way. Ji Xinghai stopped him for this? Wasn’t he glaring at him just a minute ago!
Su Nuo wasn’t stupid. Fu Baihan had already warned Ji Xinghai, and Su Nuo had let the matter go. After all, Ji Xinghai might be the big boss who blackens later on, and crossing him would only bring trouble.
But looking at Ji Xinghai now, he seemed to see An’an — a big dog eyeing a meaty bone with longing while forcing himself to act aloof.
The blackened boss? That’s it?
Wake up. My experience won’t work for you. Your brother is the ultimate playboy scumbag!
How do you get a playboy to settle down? Sorry, a little treasure who’s been doted on by his boyfriend from day one can’t solve that kind of problem.
Seeing Su Nuo stay silent, Ji Xinghai lowered his eyes, thought for a moment, and upped the offer. “I’ll give you a million.”
Su Nuo: “Huh?”
Well, if you put it that way, I won’t be polite.
Seeing the little green tea’s eyes light up, Ji Xinghai pressed his lips together. Sure enough, a money-grubbing little green tea. How on earth did he land Fu Baihan?
“Aren’t you already together with Star-ge?” Su Nuo asked curiously, heading downstairs with Ji Xinghai to pick out little cakes at the dessert table.
Though he’d just fed Ji Xinghui a bunch of nonsense about love not being a crime, Su Nuo was genuinely curious about their “love.”
Ji Xinghui was such a scumbag. In his past life, had he crashed and burned because of Ji Xinghai? Had Ji Xinghai been hurt so badly by the scumbag that he blackened outright and seized all the power in the Ji family?
Su Nuo truly belonged in the entertainment industry. He’d read so many scripts he could make up plots on his own.
“Mm.” Ji Xinghai stood beside him and frowned as he watched him start eating again. Just how much had the little green tea eaten today?
“Um, we both have older brothers, but I don’t think there’s anything I can teach you.” Su Nuo eyed him cautiously.
Ji Xinghai’s face turned dark. “You took the money,” he said coldly.
“That’s just the fee for sharing my experience. I don’t guarantee success, okay?” Su Nuo quietly took a step back. Only after seeing how many people were around did he feel a little safer. Ji Xinghai couldn’t exactly beat him up on the spot.
The corner of Ji Xinghai’s mouth twitched. “Go on.”
He suddenly felt a bit stupid. Why had he gotten so envious of how the little green tea and Fu Baihan were together, lost his head, and done something like this? It wasn’t like him at all.
But he’d already paid, and Ji Xinghai decided he wasn’t letting the little green tea off for nothing.
Honestly, he didn’t think dating Fu Baihan was much easier than dating Ji Xinghui, which was exactly why he couldn’t help marveling at Su Nuo’s tactics.
Without some tactics, how could he have gotten the Fu family heir so smitten, holding him in his palm as if afraid he might melt?
Ji Xinghai sensed the same crazed possessiveness in Fu Baihan as in himself. They were both just suppressing it, disguising it in different ways. One pretended to be gentle; the other pretended to be pitiful.
Staring at the little green tea’s fair, soft face, Ji Xinghai scoffed.
Wouldn’t Fu Baihan wear him out completely? So skinny and frail — could he even take it?
“You have to know how to act cute.” Su Nuo solemnly passed on his wisdom, sounding very convincing. “Be sweet-talking, coax him a lot, make time to see him no matter how busy you are, but don’t bother him while he’s working.”
Ji Xinghai: “?”
I give you a million and this is how you brush me off?
Su Nuo felt guilty too and puffed out his chest, forcing himself to stay calm. “My brother confessed first. He already liked me.”
Ji Xinghai, realizing he’d been conned: “……” Damn it. Not only had the little green tea scammed him, he’d stabbed him in the heart, too. That was going a bit far.
“Ahem, so, um, Star-ge never paid back the money he borrowed from me before. I’ll just count it as you paying for him, and the relationship coaching is basically free!” Su Nuo finally squeezed out an excuse and silently applauded his own cleverness.
Ji Xinghai reached out, pinched Su Nuo’s cheek hard, and turned to leave.
Little green tea. So useless.
Su Nuo took a breath and rubbed his face, grumbling, “What kind of person is that? Assaulting his teacher. I taught him for nothing…”
Ji Xinghai couldn’t figure it out. What did Ge even like about this little green tea? Or did he just like this not-so-smart type?
Little did they know that to the people around them, the scene looked like the Ji family’s hot new younger son and the Fu family’s Young Master were close — possibly even flirting.
Everyone exchanged glances. Oho, so that’s their relationship. Did this count as an unconventional “marriage alliance”?
Su Nuo’s reputation took a hit, but he was too busy stuffing his face to notice.
After their business talk, Ji Xinghui went to clean up the aftermath of Father Ji fainting from rage. Fu Baihan came downstairs to find his kid, and as he passed people chatting with drinks in hand, he caught an earful of gossip.
The moment they saw him, the gossipers fell silent and put on ingratiating smiles. They came to the Ji family banquet hoping to build ties with the Fu family; otherwise the event would never have been this grand.
Fu Baihan ignored them and found the kid, well-fed and getting some air on the terrace. His voice was low. “Who were you with just now?”
“Gege?” Seeing his stormy expression, Su Nuo blinked, then pulled out a bank card and pressed it into Fu Baihan’s hand. “I scammed money from the Ji family to support you.”
Fu Baihan’s gaze was complicated. In such a short time, how had there already been a financial transaction? What had his little treasure talked about with that guy?
“Ji Xinghai paid back the money Star-ge borrowed before.” Su Nuo hooked his arm through Fu Baihan’s. “Don’t be mad. He suddenly asked me how to make his brother like him, and I just messed with him a little.”
What was so hard about playing dumb? Fooling Ji Xinghai took no time at all. Deep down, Su Nuo still had a boy’s mischief and liked to prank people now and then.
Even if Ji Xinghui was an invincible scumbag, Su Nuo wasn’t going to rashly help Ji Xinghai win him over. He knew perfectly well who was close to him and who wasn’t.
Anyway, he hadn’t lied to Ji Xinghai. His experience really didn’t apply.
Come to think of it, had he ever put effort into winning Fu Baihan over? Not really. He’d barely figured out his own feelings and hadn’t even used any moves before Fu Baihan came straight out with it.
“Keep it.” Fu Baihan put the bank card back in his little treasure’s coat pocket. “Don’t get too close to Ji Xinghai. Those people over there were just gossiping about your relationship.”
Su Nuo was shocked. “They’re way too nosy. How boring!”
How were they even better at making things up than entertainment paparazzi?
Fu Baihan laughed at his little treasure’s shocked look. “Don’t worry. They won’t dare spread it.”
“But they’ll spread it among themselves…” Su Nuo pouted. These people from wealthy families gossiped behind people’s backs too.
As they stepped under the light, Fu Baihan narrowed his eyes and reached out to touch his little treasure’s cheek. “Sweetie, why is it red here?”
Su Nuo rubbed it again. “Ji Xinghai suddenly pinched me. But I fooled him first, and he got mad from embarrassment, so I can’t really go settle the score.”
Falling for a scumbag was hard enough. Su Nuo even felt a little sorry for Ji Xinghai.
Whether or not he blackened in the future, right now he was being toyed with by Ji Xinghui with no way to fight back.
Getting involved with a womanizer of the romance scene — if you’re not the one suffering, who is?
“Next time, just break his hand.” Fu Baihan bent a knuckle and brushed the faint red mark on Su Nuo’s cheek, his tone as if he’d already broken Ji Xinghai’s hand.
Su Nuo hunched his shoulders. “Okay.”
After dealing with a few business partners, Ji Xinghai spotted Fu Baihan and Su Nuo close together from afar. The air between them was so intimate that people who wanted to come up and chat couldn’t even open their mouths. They didn’t hide it in the slightest.
Was it because they were brothers in name? Right — who would ever guess that brothers who grew up together would become lovers?
Just like him and Ji Xinghui. Who would imagine that the Ji family heir stripped of power and the illegitimate son who successfully rose up were secretly sharing a bed?
“Gege, my stomach feels a little off.” Drawing closer, Ji Xinghai heard Su Nuo’s clingy voice. He really was good at acting cute.
Fu Baihan tapped his forehead. “Who told you to eat so many desserts?”
“It’s because you never let me have them, so I couldn’t help it.” Su Nuo huffed.
“Oh? So it’s my fault.” Fu Baihan half-smiled.
Su Nuo’s face was full of the haughtiness of a spoiled kid. “Obviously.”
Fu Baihan put an arm around his shoulders and said quietly, “Let’s go. I’ll deal with you at home.”
Fu Baihan saw Ji Xinghai, his expression cold, gave no acknowledgment, and left directly with Su Nuo.
It might be the Ji family’s banquet, but he really had no need to give face to the Ji family’s illegitimate son.
Even if he’d heard from his friend that this illegitimate son and his friend were more than just family.
In the car, Su Nuo rested his head on Fu Baihan’s lap. “Gege, why are those two together?”
They didn’t really seem like a real couple. Either way, real or not, Ji Xinghui was playing way too big.
“Don’t worry about them.” Fu Baihan stroked the kid’s hair. “Ji Xinghui will learn his lesson someday.”
He had keenly seen through it: his friend was no match for that illegitimate son.
But Ji Xinghui was too confident. Even if Fu Baihan said something, he wouldn’t take it to heart. Even Su Nuo had warned him to watch out for Ji Xinghai, and yet he’d gotten tangled up with him.
If it was just to infuriate Father Ji, that really wasn’t necessary.
A scumbag like Ji Xinghui, who had never once lost out in love, was probably fated to hit a karmic snag.
“Is Ji Xinghai really the Ji family’s illegitimate son?” Su Nuo asked. He always felt Fu Baihan would know these things.
Sure enough, Fu Baihan answered him. “No. His mother was with Ji Guang for a while, but she had him with someone else.”
Su Nuo let out a “wow.” “The Ji family didn’t do a DNA test before bringing an illegitimate son home?”
“They did. Ji Xinghai tampered with it.” Fu Baihan patiently explained the whole story to his little treasure, satisfying his curiosity.
Su Nuo yawned. “Mm, I knew they weren’t real brothers. Otherwise how would it get past the censors?”
Meanwhile, Ji Xinghui had just seen off the family doctor when he ran right into Ji Xinghai. Ji Xinghai’s eyes were bright as he walked up to him, standing intimately close.
“Ge…” He softened his voice, deciding to copy the little green tea. “I don’t feel well.”
Ji Xinghui pushed him away. “Did you take the wrong meds? Want me to call the doctor back for you?”
Ji Xinghai’s face went stiff. “No need.”
Acting cute was useless advice. He’d be better off just carrying the man home over his shoulder and “dealing with” him.
