It had been no more than a tiny cut, yet now black blood was seeping from it without stopping.
It was an unmistakable sign of poisoning.
But the three of them had been together the whole time. Neither Qin Du nor Yu’er had shown any signs of poisoning after the fight with the wolves. Why was Mu Yunting the only one affected?
After examining him, Yu’er shook her head helplessly.
“This is bad. Most plants in the realm are different from those outside, so I don’t know what poisoned him.”
“Do you have any antidote pills? A Hundred-Poison Remedy or something similar?”
“No. Those were all confiscated before we entered. They’re prohibited items. Anyone caught carrying medicinal pills is disqualified.”
Looking at the cut on Mu Yunting’s finger, Yu’er steeled herself, bent down, and took it into her mouth to draw out the poisoned blood.
Qin Du was astonished.
He watched without blinking as she sucked out the dark blood little by little and spat it away.
Outside, the entire scene was broadcast on the giant screen.
A stir immediately swept through the crowd.
Unable to understand what was happening, Lin Huaiqing repeatedly asked Fu’er beside him for an explanation.
Fu’er sat with her face flushed, unsure how to answer.
Yu’er was her senior sister among their master’s direct disciples. Beyond that, they were also sisters by blood. Both had been chosen by Immortal Venerable Shuangyue and accepted as disciples in the same year.
But blood relationships were a somewhat sensitive matter within the immortal sects, so Fu’er always called Yu’er “Senior Sister” in front of outsiders.
She had never seen her sister treat anyone so well—especially a male cultivator she had only met a handful of times.
Beside her, Lin Huaiqing was still trying to understand the situation. Once he heard Fu’er’s stumbling explanation, his expression darkened.
In his current condition, Mu Yunting could hold out until dawn at most. If they failed to find an antidote by then, he would probably be deemed dead.
But he still hadn’t found his bonded spirit sword.
If he were teleported out now, he would have to wait another five full years for the realm to reopen.
Progress in this world had already been delayed because Lin Huaiqing had taken the wrong disciple. If another five years were added, when would he ever finish his mission?
Unless…
An idea struck him. He turned to Fu’er.
“Young lady, I’m feeling a little tired. Would you take me back to Yuqing Shrine to rest?”
Fu’er was staring intently at her sister and the unfamiliar young man on the screen, as though she had just stumbled upon some earth-shattering gossip.
Even when Lin Huaiqing asked to leave, she only escorted him to the shrine’s entrance before eagerly hurrying back to the screen.
Could anyone understand her excitement? It looked as though she might soon have a brother-in-law!
Compared with the bustling entrance to the realm, Yuqing Shrine was utterly quiet.
Lin Huaiqing lay down on the bed and separated a strand of spiritual consciousness from his sea of consciousness.
Anyone who saw him would merely think his body was sleeping. In reality, his awareness was already floating in the air.
Freed from the constraints of flesh, his spiritual consciousness drifted farther and farther away, flying straight above the realm’s entrance.
He had to go inside, cure Mu Yunting’s poisoning, and ensure that he successfully obtained his bonded spirit sword.
After entering the realm, Lin Huaiqing selected a disciple who appeared physically weak and had a low cultivation level, then possessed him.
With very little expenditure of spiritual energy, he successfully took control of the body.
The instant he entered it, his vision lit up.
He could see! At last, he could see again!
Being able to see everything clearly felt incredible!
But this was no time to celebrate. He had to find the location shown on the screen as quickly as possible—and find his two disciples.
Meanwhile, the two worked together to carry the unconscious Mu Yunting into a secluded mountain cave.
There were no signs of beasts passing through, and the place was well hidden. Anyone trying to find them would have a difficult time.
Having been saved by Mu Yunting, Yu’er naturally had no intention of leaving. Qin Du, however, was growing restless.
Quite apart from his relationship with Mu Yunting, his desire to achieve something in this trial meant he couldn’t simply sit here and wait.
Mu Yunting wouldn’t actually die, anyway. At worst, he would be sent outside. He could always come back next time.
With that thought, Qin Du’s last shred of sympathy vanished.
He stood, picked up his sword, and prepared to leave.
From the corner, the sharp-eyed Yu’er noticed and called out in time.
“Fellow Daoist Qin, where are you going?”
Qin Du stopped. This girl certainly didn’t miss much.
“I’m going to look around and find some food and water,” he lied guiltily.
“Then why are you taking the treasure-map vial? You’re not planning to leave us, are you?”
Exposed, Qin Du felt rather embarrassed. With no other choice, he spoke plainly.
“He’ll be dead before dawn. If you don’t want to sit around waiting to be eliminated, you should leave now.”
“I’m not leaving. If Fellow Daoist Mu hadn’t saved me, I would already be dead. Now that he’s poisoned, how could I abandon him here?”
Qin Du rolled his eyes. Who would believe there was nothing between these two?
He had done more than enough already. If necessary, he could give Mu Yunting whatever treasures he found once they got out.
He couldn’t stay here any longer.
“If you won’t leave, I will. Until we meet again!”
With that, Qin Du turned and strode away.
He had barely gone any distance before running straight into a team.
There were five of them, all wearing matching disciple robes, presumably from the same immortal sect. One with a pinched, sharp-featured face barked, “Stop! Hand over your points!”
Qin Du halted, looking puzzled.
“Points? You can steal those?”
“Obviously! Is this your first time in the realm? You don’t even know an unwritten rule like that? Idiot!”
Despite being insulted out of nowhere, Qin Du wasn’t angry.
So participants could rob one another of points. And it was an unwritten rule, no less. He really was learning something new.
“It is my first trial. How do you take someone’s points?” he asked with complete sincerity.
“Enough questions! Give me your signal device. Put the ends together, and the points can be transferred!”
At that, another member of the team finally lost patience and stepped forward.
“Why are you wasting your breath? Just take it!”
An incense stick’s worth of time later…
Qin Du transferred the points from all five signal devices into his own, one by one. Meanwhile, five people lay sprawled on the ground.
“Honestly, why didn’t you tell me about something this good sooner? It’s much easier than fighting beasts.”
He tossed the last device aside, dusted off his backside, and stood.
“All right. Take your devices and get lost!”
For once, he was showing extraordinary mercy by not killing these fools who had dared try to rob him.
In the past, anyone who coveted his possessions would have been dead and buried long ago.
The five hurriedly gathered their things and scrambled away. Even as they fled, they shouted threats, telling him to watch his back.
Apparently, he hadn’t beaten them hard enough. They still had the strength to make threats.
Qin Du was about to leave too when a cool, clear voice sounded from the bushes behind him.
“Aren’t you afraid that behaving like this will disgrace your master?”
