Chapter 37: That’s It?

Su Nuo went downstairs for some water, peeking down from the stairs, afraid Fu Baihan would catch him.

But of course, whatever you fear is exactly what happens. Fu Baihan closed the fridge, turned around, and saw the kid poking his head out, looking completely silly.

“Sweetie, come here.” He beckoned.

Su Nuo walked over and pouted. “You sound like you’re calling a puppy.”

“Is there any puppy this hard to raise?” Fu Baihan pinched his cheek. The kid’s annoyed expression only made him want to tease him more.

“You go out drinking every day. Wait till Uncle gets back, I’ll have him yell at you.” Su Nuo huffed and grabbed a cup to pour some water.

Fu Baihan hadn’t changed out of his work clothes yet, only taken off his jacket. His shirt and dress pants showed off a physique that could make anyone stare. Standing next to him made Su Nuo look small and delicate.

“I only had one drink.” Fu Baihan took the warm water the kid handed him. He’d come down to get water himself, but water from his little brother obviously tasted sweeter.

Su Nuo looked up at him. “As if anyone would dare to make you drink. You obviously just wanted to.”

At Fu Baihan’s level, no matter what kind of business dinner it was, everyone else was the one tiptoeing around to figure out what he liked. No one would ever dare pressure him to drink.

Fu Baihan raised his wrist and sniffed. “Do I smell?”

“Brother, you’re only twenty-five. Don’t be like those old men who smoke and drink.” Su Nuo sighed and patted his shoulder. “It stinks.”

It didn’t really smell. Su Nuo just wanted to get on his nerves.

Coming home drunk in the middle of the night and still checking on him playing games. What a hypocrite!

Fu Baihan grabbed the kid by the back of his collar. “No need to remind me of my age every day, sweetie. I could take five of you.”

Su Nuo fumed. “You’re the one in the wrong and you’re threatening me? Believe it or not, when you’re old I’ll push your wheelchair down a hill.”

“Then I really raised you for nothing.” Fu Baihan took the kid by the arm and led him upstairs. “Before you push my wheelchair, make the bed.”

Somehow, Su Nuo ended up sleeping in Fu Baihan’s bed instead of going back to his own room. They bickered until he was too sleepy to move, and he just stole Fu Baihan’s pillow.

When Fu Baihan came back from his morning workout, the kid was sitting on his bed yawning, looking groggy and completely lost, not even fully awake.

“Get up.” Fu Baihan went over and pulled back the covers. “Auntie’s made breakfast.”

Su Nuo held out his hand like it was obvious. “Clothes.”

Fu Baihan dressed him in the clothes he’d brought from Su Nuo’s room, then smoothed down the hair sticking up on his head. “You’re planning to push my wheelchair down a hill and I still have to wait on you hand and foot. Little rascal.”

“Brother, what time did you go to bed last night?” Su Nuo grabbed his phone and checked the time, thinking: so this is the world of a domineering CEO? No need to sleep at night, and still up early to hit the gym.

And he was just a lazy little fish who wanted to stay in bed every day.

With his brother taking care of him, he didn’t need to work that hard. What’s a job? He was still young. He didn’t need to know.

“I would’ve slept earlier if you hadn’t kicked me all night.” Fu Baihan folded his pajamas. “You’ve got twenty minutes to wash up and eat. The driver’s almost here.”

Su Nuo: “…Cruel.”

The housekeeper came up to tidy their rooms and, seeing the brothers together, asked, “Nuonuo, did you sleep in your brother’s room last night?”

“Yeah. He came home late and argued with me, and I got so tired I just fell asleep here,” Su Nuo tattled.

“Who argued with you?” Fu Baihan laughed in disbelief. “Now you’re blaming me.”

The housekeeper smiled warmly. “Hurry down and eat.”

When she first started working for the Fu family, she’d been nervous. It was such a wealthy family, after all. But after a few years, all the staff who took care of them agreed they couldn’t ask for better employers.

Two brothers this close? Forget rich families, you rarely saw that even in ordinary families.

The mature, steady young master was just a big brother who bickered with his little brother at home.

Out the door, the driver saw the little young master bringing a sandwich into the car to eat, and gave Fu Baihan a strange look.

Is teasing a kid really that fun? Hm… it does look like fun.

Su Nuo thumped his chest. “…Water.”

Fu Baihan opened a bottle and handed it to him. “What’s the rush?”

Su Nuo glared at him. “You rushed me!”

He saw Fu Baihan laugh, got a little huffy, and ignored him.

So mean. Is this how you treat a future big star?

When they got to the office building, Fu Baihan finally came over to make up with him. “Come upstairs. I have a present for you.”

Su Nuo thought about it and followed him out of the car. “If the present’s not good enough, you’re done. I’ll call Auntie right away.”

“How terrifying.” Fu Baihan ruffled his hair and took him upstairs.

The CEO had brought his little brother to work again, and the secretaries were whispering. The married ladies started daydreaming.

“Do you think we’ll be allowed to bring our kids to work someday?”

“Keep dreaming. You know how President Fu’s double standards work.”

“In his eyes, there’s only one little treasure in the whole world who needs looking after.”

“When did yogurt show up in the fridge?”

“I bought it yesterday. President Fu specifically told me to get that brand because the little young master likes it.”

“See? He even put the straw in for him. The little young master really doesn’t need hands around his brother.”

“Ahem… okay, stop talking, stop talking. The little young master’s looking this way.”

Su Nuo could see the ladies in the secretary’s office. He bit his straw, smiled with his eyes, and waved.

The ladies took the sweet hit, their hearts racing.

This little treasure deserves all the love!

They were all reposting him on Weibo!

Most of the company’s executives knew the little young master had gone into show business for fun. He was often brought in to show his face, and he was Fu Baihan’s mood regulator. They practically wanted to each keep a photo of Su Nuo on an altar. How could they not recognize him?

No getting yelled at in meetings today. They’d gladly be the little young master’s first batch of die-hard fans.

Su Nuo openly slacked off in Fu Baihan’s spacious office. Fu Baihan hadn’t brought him there to actually do any work anyway.

Su Nuo had reason to suspect his brother just wanted a stress toy! Why else would he keep pinching him?

For the sake of the yacht, he obediently offered up his cheeks to be pinched.

It wasn’t until the afternoon that he remembered what he’d forgotten yesterday.

When he logged into Weibo, the page froze. It took a few minutes to refresh normally, and his notifications had exploded.

Scrolling through, he found it was mostly passersby drooling over his looks and Wei Sinian’s fans. The vibe was surprisingly friendly.

Wei Sinian’s likes and reposts had brought him massive traffic, but he didn’t feel a thing. He just found Wei Sinian’s repost and replied underneath: “Thank you for the encouragement, senior.”

Finally, the little one had replied! Wei Sinian’s fans got excited, clicked in, and were all left speechless. That’s it???

Little one, isn’t our Best Actor worth a single compliment?

Even one exclamation point to show some excitement would’ve been fine! You’re making our Best Actor look so cheap!

They realized that people really are contradictory creatures. In the past, countless co-stars had written long posts gushing over their Best Actor. He never replied, and the fans would just politely like the post and say thanks, just as cold as Su Nuo was now, while secretly thinking, “Ha, don’t even think about using our guy for clout.” Now their Best Actor was the one making the first move, the other person was just being polite, and they felt so unfairly treated.

Look at our Best Actor! He debuted at five, became famous as a kid, won his first Best Actor trophy at sixteen, and every single one of his films was both acclaimed and a box office hit. Never a scandal, never any hype, just quietly doing his job.

Doesn’t he deserve to be liked?!

Wei Sinian is that great, and someone doesn’t like him?!

Wei Sinian’s fans never had to worry about him having a scandal, and being his fan was something to proudly brag about in fandom circles. So little one, you got to work with him up close, and you’re still this cold?

Everyone felt wronged on the Best Actor’s behalf, but they didn’t dare say anything in Su Nuo’s comments. They knew they couldn’t speak for Wei Sinian himself. If Wei Sinian really liked this kid, then no matter how the kid acted, they had to accept it, because it was their Best Actor who’d made the first move.

They never thought they’d see the day when they felt their own idol was being a pushover.

So what if you’re a Best Actor? The newcomer doesn’t care about you.

After replying, Su Nuo had done his duty. He scrolled through Weibo casually, then his hand suddenly froze: “Scripted flex livestream”?

That trending tag couldn’t possibly be what he thought it was, could it?

Su Nuo switched to his alt account and clicked in again. When he saw the game ID in the screen recording, his heart turned to ash.

What kind of public humiliation was this? He could never use that game account again.

Getting randomly matched with a big streamer. What kind of luck was that?

Some people thought it was scripted, others believed it was real. After a lot of deduction and guesswork, some flat-out said it was Fu Baihan and his little brother. The gossip crowd dug up the photo of Fu Baihan holding Su Nuo with one arm again. A brother who can afford a yacht? Who else could it be?

It had to be said, they’d guessed the truth. But Fu Baihan didn’t read Weibo, and Su Nuo wasn’t going to admit it, so netizens could only speculate. Ji Xinghui did recognize both of their voices, but he knew better than to say anything without Su Nuo’s permission.

Sigh. Fu Baihan was a great big brother, but not exactly a great friend to Ji Xinghui. He’d actually hit him.

“Brother, I’ll go to tonight’s banquet with you.” Just as Ji Xinghui was happily scrolling through Weibo, Ji Xinghai’s voice came from behind him.

Ji Xinghui’s face fell instantly. He said coldly, “Whatever. Go if you want.”

“Are you still going?” Ji Xinghai walked around and crouched in front of him, looking up at him as he talked, like an obedient big dog.

Ji Xinghui kicked him and stood up. “No.”

The annoying thing about wolf cubs was that they were really good at pretending to be dogs, making people think they were harmless.

To win over the old man in a family like this, Ji Xinghui had to hand it to him. The guy really could stomach anything.

He didn’t like a little brother like this at all. Who knew when he’d turn around and bite him?

He much preferred his little treasure Nuonuo. Completely easy to read, nothing complicated about being around him.

Fine, heaven didn’t give him a big brother who handed out credit cards. But couldn’t it at least give him a cute little brother?

Ji Xinghai was pretending to be some innocent boy, but when he stood up he was even taller than Ji Xinghui.

Whoever wanted to go to the banquet could go. Ji Xinghui could always use Fu Baihan’s name to scare the old man anyway.
