Chapter 8: Found You

Splash—

Yu Lancheng seized his hand and hauled him bodily out of the water.

“What are you trying to do?”

Caught completely off guard, Qin Yu froze for a moment before waving his free hand and hastily explaining.

“Please don’t misunderstand, Master! I only wanted to give you a massage. Just a massage, honestly. I had no other intentions!”

Yu Lancheng narrowed his eyes slightly. After a brief silence, he released Qin Yu’s hand.

“It’s late, and the night air is damp. Go back and get some rest.”

With those words, he vanished.

Relieved, Qin Yu sank back into the hot spring. His attempt to flatter his master had certainly backfired.

He could not help blaming the system.

“Why didn’t you warn me?”

【You told me not to disturb you during your break.】

Qin Yu: “…”

Fine. So it was holding a grudge.

A night breeze swept past, making him sneeze. How strange. Could he really feel cold while soaking in a hot spring?

Qin Yu climbed onto the bank and picked up his clothes. Just as he was about to get dressed, he felt a tickle on his arm. Looking down, he discovered two strands of hair clinging to it.

His own hair was a deep ocean blue. These strands were long and black, clearly not his… Which meant they belonged to Immortal Lord Yazheng!!!

So, after upsetting Immortal Lord Yazheng, he had also managed to pull out some of his hair?!

He absolutely could not let his master find out!

He dropped the strands into the spring’s outflow and let the water carry them away. Only after making sure they were out of sight did he turn and leave.

What he failed to notice was that, as the two strands drifted away, their black color gradually faded, revealing the silver beneath. A sinister aura emanated from them.

Only after Qin Yu left the hot spring did Yu Lancheng emerge from the darkness. A rare trace of uncertainty appeared in his gloomy eyes.

Had Qin Yu truly seen nothing back at the lake?

It seemed this little liar had quite a few secrets.

Qin Yu returned to the side hall and fell asleep the moment his head touched the pillow.

He slept straight through until broad daylight. When he opened his eyes, the sun was already high in the sky.

“Crap! Late on my very first day of class. The teacher’s going to tear me apart!”

He scrambled to Yuxin Hall, only to find the entire classroom deserted. He stared, bewildered.

“Didn’t the disciples’ rules say we had to come to Yuxin Hall for lessons between seven and nine? Why isn’t anyone here?”

He asked the system, “System, do you know where everyone’s gone?”

After waiting a long time without an answer, he assumed it was still angry.

“Come on, Bro System. I was wrong earlier. I’m admitting it, all right? Could you please say something?”

Still, the system gave no response.

An inexplicable unease stirred in his chest. He was about to try contacting it again when a sudden, agonized scream shattered the silence.

A scream?

Had something happened?

Without a second thought, he ran toward the sound.

Along the way, he kept coming across great splashes of blood—and even bodies. Each had met a different gruesome end. Some were missing their limbs, some had been cleaved in two, and others had had their organs gouged out…

The sight made him feel as though he had stepped into hell. It was horrifying.

This was the Tiannan Divine Sect. Who would dare commit such atrocities here?

“Please, I’m begging you, spare me! I really don’t know who you’re talking about…”

The speaker had not even finished pleading before his words became a scream.

Qin Yu’s scalp prickled. He hid around a corner and cautiously peered out. A tall figure dressed in black held a man aloft. The captive’s neck hung crookedly, his body limp as a noodle. One glance was enough to tell that he was well and truly dead.

Qin Yu looked once, then again. Clapping a hand over his mouth in horror, he turned and fled the way he had come.

Fuck! How had that psychopath found his way here?!

Yu Lancheng discarded the corpse and slowly turned. Behind his mask, eyes so red they seemed about to drip blood followed Qin Yu’s fleeing figure. His thin lips parted.

“Found you.”

At that deathly voice behind him, Qin Yu could almost feel the top of his skull beginning to ache.

“Boss, don’t let my age fool you—I actually have amnesia! I can’t even remember what happened three days ago. Please let me go!”

As he ran, Qin Yu realized he was being dragged backward. He hastily wrapped his arms and legs around a nearby stone lantern.

“We’ve never had any quarrel! Can’t you just spare me?!”

Yu Lancheng swept a hand through the air. Qin Yu instantly flew backward and landed at his feet.

He planted a foot on Qin Yu’s chest and looked down at him.

“No quarrel? Your curse made my bride-to-be run away. I still haven’t found her.”

Qin Yu: “…”

Are you sure she didn’t run away because you’re so vicious and terrifying?

He only dared make that remark in his head, betraying none of it on his face.

“Calm down, Boss. Please, you have to stay calm! As the saying goes, if one leaves, the next will be sweeter. I can find you another bride to make up for it!”

“Oh?”

Yu Lancheng was genuinely taken aback.

“You can replace a bride?”

Was there hope?!

Qin Yu put his silver tongue to work again.

“As a matter of fact, I know plenty of beautiful, kindhearted young ladies. I guarantee I can find you a bride even better than your last one!”

What a persuasive little mouth.

Anyone else might actually have fallen for it.

“Heh.”

Yu Lancheng gave a cold laugh and bent closer. He squeezed Qin Yu’s cheeks hard enough to force his lips into a ducklike pout.

“But I’m not interested in finding a bride anymore. I only want to crush your skull and taste the brains inside. I came all this way from a thousand li away especially for that. You won’t disappoint me, will you?”

A chill shot up through Qin Yu from the soles of his feet.

“Spare me, Boss! I really am innocent! Someone tricked me into going there. If they hadn’t, I would never have set foot in that place in my entire life!”

If the system had sent him into this world just two hours earlier, he would never have gotten caught up in this whole wretched mess.

He wanted to expose the person who had originally tricked the body’s former owner, but no matter how hard he thought, he could not remember their name. Whatever. He would just make one up.

Once he got through this, he would find his powerful master and ask him to teach this psychopath a lesson!

“I was in love with a young lady back then. She told me Fenyuan Village had a divine jade that could preserve a person’s youth forever. If I brought it back to her, she would agree to be with me. It wasn’t until I met you that I realized I’d been tricked.”

Yu Lancheng recalled the high-grade immortal artifacts Qin Yu carried. Any one of them was a priceless treasure. Someone with possessions like those truly had no reason to appear in Fenyuan Village.

Had someone discovered his identity and deliberately sent this little liar to probe him?

“Where did that woman get her information? If your answer satisfies me, I might consider sparing your life.”

Qin Yu secretly rejoiced. It seemed he had gambled correctly again.

“To be honest, I don’t know where she got…”

Before he could finish, Yu Lancheng suddenly pressed harder with the foot on his chest, nearly breaking his ribs. Qin Yu hurried to explain.

“I don’t know, but I know someone who definitely does!”
