So what if he was dramatic? No one could resist a little treasure who was both spoiled and dramatic.
Fu Baihan certainly couldn’t.
Any dinner that could get Fu Baihan to show up was no ordinary dinner. But he’d only come because it meant he could pick up the kid on the way home. His heart wasn’t in the networking at all.
Even though he wasn’t interested, no one dared to complain. Everyone just carefully watched his expression and tried to stay on his good side.
When he turned down a toast, Fu Baihan was completely matter-of-fact. “I’m driving. I’ll pass.”
No one dared push him when he refused, but they were all curious about his reason.
Someone of your status, driving yourself? Doesn’t the Fu family have drivers?
“Did President Fu get a new car?” someone joked.
“No.” Fu Baihan was in a good mood. “The kid at home likes making me his driver.”
Those who knew understood he meant his little brother. Those who didn’t probably thought he was talking about his son.
Spoiling a kid like that? That’s a little off-brand for you.
But on second thought, did his strictness out in the world and his indulgence toward his little brother contradict each other at all? Not really.
Maybe it was some rich-family power play, deliberately spoiling the little young master so he’d never amount to anything.
Even if it was an act, he was playing it so perfectly no one could fault him.
Su Nuo sneezed. He had no idea that thanks to Fu Baihan’s bragging, his image in the minds of certain business tycoons was now taking on countless different forms.
“Cold?” Wei Sinian noticed and looked down to ask.
Su Nuo shook his head. “No, I’m not cold.”
The thing he feared most was the Best Actor’s sudden concern turning him into the center of attention.
Though it was his own wrap party, so he was the center of attention anyway.
After a few rounds of drinks, the crew got rowdy. The director had said no one should drink too much, but he couldn’t even stick to it himself, so everyone drinking with him kept going glass after glass.
Su Nuo only had one drink the whole night. The director didn’t push him again, and with the Best Actor sitting beside him blocking drinks, no one else dared to try.
Treated like everyone’s favorite. You couldn’t help but envy him.
The production had booked out this very hotel, so the crew and actors staying nearby went back to their rooms after the party, while those who lived in the capital had their assistants pick them up. Wei Sinian walked Su Nuo to the lobby entrance and said, “I’ll take you home.”
“No need,” Su Nuo declined. “My brother’s coming soon. I’m going home with him.”
Wei Sinian: “Okay. Then I’ll wait with you until he gets here.”
The lighting was soft, and Wei Sinian’s expression looked gentle too. Even with a mask on, just standing there, he had a powerful presence that was impossible to ignore.
After working together again, Su Nuo’s feelings toward Wei Sinian were even more complicated. He knew he was being petty. Even if he’d made peace with what happened in the past, he probably still wouldn’t forgive or understand these people. But they had no idea, and kept showing they liked him.
He could feel how Wei Sinian had looked after him on set. All he could do was try his best to keep his distance.
Su Nuo had assumed that with Wei Sinian’s personality, after being turned down once, he’d never pay attention to him again. After all, he wasn’t Su Yujin, someone who could make them break all their rules.
But he never expected Wei Sinian not to care at all, and to keep coming back to his side again and again.
Would he really help a newcomer this selflessly?
Even if it was admiration, it was a bit too intense.
In his past life, he and Wei Sinian had been more like polite acquaintances, never very close, but on set they could understand each other perfectly and connect.
Now that the timeline had reset, Su Nuo found that everything had gotten strange. Not just Wei Sinian, but Yu Ning too.
If other things hadn’t stayed the same, he’d almost suspect he was in a parallel universe.
Standing there in silence, Su Nuo felt awkward. He looked down and texted Fu Baihan: Brother, if you don’t get here soon, I’m going to dig a whole new hotel with my toes from the cringe!
When Fu Baihan finally arrived, Su Nuo’s eyes lit up, and he waved. “Brother!”
Fu Baihan said a few words to the people behind him, then quickly walked over. “Have you been waiting long?”
Su Nuo shook his head. “Not really. A few minutes?”
The tycoons pretended not to look, but on their way out they were all sneaking glances at Su Nuo, wanting to see what kind of little treasure could turn Fu Baihan into a completely different person.
Seeing a young man with a mask covering half his face, they were all disappointed.
Aw, why won’t he let us see clearly? What if we don’t recognize him someday and accidentally offend him?
Some people who’d known the Fu family for a long time and had seen Su Nuo at banquets came over to say hello. “Nuonuo’s gotten taller again.”
Su Nuo blinked sweetly and greeted each of them as “uncle,” polite and perfect.
Grown-ups praising kids only ever seemed to use the same few phrases, especially for someone Su Nuo’s age, who hadn’t graduated or joined the company yet and was still all fresh-faced youth. All they could do was say he’d gotten taller.
Fu Baihan’s gaze was warm. To him, his kid was perfect in every way, and he loved hearing others praise him.
Once they’d made it through all the greetings, Su Nuo nudged Fu Baihan. “Brother, let’s go home. I’m so sleepy.”
He turned to Wei Sinian. “Thank you, senior. I won’t walk you out.”
Wei Sinian’s and Fu Baihan’s eyes met, and there was an inexplicable hostility between them, but neither showed it in front of Su Nuo. Wei Sinian nodded. “Okay. See you at the promo events.”
What else could Su Nuo say? He just agreed.
Wei Sinian’s assistant hadn’t arrived yet, so Su Nuo and Fu Baihan left first. Fu Baihan tugged at the kid’s collar. “You smell like alcohol. You tell me not to drink, but you don’t listen yourself.”
Su Nuo whined. “I didn’t drink. It’s from other people. It’ll be gone once I change.”
“Throw this outfit out,” Fu Baihan ordered, very much the dictator.
Su Nuo felt guilty and played good boy. “I’ll throw it out as soon as we get home.”
Once they were home and he’d changed and showered, Su Nuo finally remembered he still had something to ask Fu Baihan.
What Fu Baihan said in the elevator. Was he coming out or not?!
Su Nuo paced back and forth in front of the study a few times, then decided it’d be weird to just go ask. So what if Fu Baihan liked men? So did he. It wasn’t like he was homophobic and would distance himself.
But would Uncle Fu be okay with it?
He always felt that when it came to being old-fashioned and stubborn, it ran in the Fu family.
The study door opened, and Fu Baihan caught the kid who suddenly tumbled in. He laughed. “What’s this? Eavesdropping?”
Su Nuo: “…Ahem. Brother, I wanted to ask you about that… that thing…”
“No ice cream.” Fu Baihan poked his forehead. “Go eat some fruit.”
I don’t want ice cream! How are you so good at changing the subject?!
Su Nuo choked on his words, then watched his brother’s expression and finally asked. “Brother, do you like men or women?”
Fu Baihan raised an eyebrow. “Why do you ask?”
Su Nuo got huffy. “You’re the one who made me curious! Tell me, tell me!”
“That scared of a sister-in-law moving in?” Fu Baihan pinched his cheek. “Silly.”
Su Nuo swatted his hand away. “I’m worried about you, okay? Don’t joke about this. If Uncle finds out, he’ll beat you with a stick.”
He’d never been hit, but in Su Nuo’s mind, Fu Mingyuan was very imposing. Definitely the kind of dad who’d get physical.
“Don’t worry,” Fu Baihan reassured him. “Mom won’t let him hit me.”
“So you admit it!” Su Nuo’s eyes went wide. “Brother, you really like men?”
Fu Baihan laughed. “I don’t know. I like work more.”
Su Nuo grumbled. “Big liar… forget it.” He took a deep breath. “Anyway, I have something to tell you. You’re thinking the same way, so you can’t yell at me.”
Fu Baihan hummed. “I’ll decide whether to lecture you after I hear it.”
“I… I like men too. Someday I’m going to get a boyfriend!”
Su Nuo worked up the courage and finally confessed.
It was only because of what Fu Baihan had said today that he’d gotten this bold. If his brother was the first to come out, what did he have to be afraid of?
Uncle wasn’t home anyway!
His brother wouldn’t have the heart to hit him, right?
Pfft, why would he even hit him? He was the same.
“Is it that Wei Sinian?” Seeing the kid look so shy, Fu Baihan’s expression turned cold instantly, and he gripped his shoulders. “Since when?”
He knew it. That wolf in sheep’s clothing on set had his eye on his little brother. He really had the nerve to trick him like this?
In Fu Baihan’s mind, what did Su Nuo know about love? He was still a little kid who hadn’t grown up. Someone must have led him astray.
Fu Baihan didn’t care about the kid’s sexuality. Same-sex relationships weren’t shocking in this society anymore. Same-sex marriage was even legal. His kid announcing he wanted to date wasn’t a big deal.
But understanding it was one thing. Accepting it right away was another.
Fu Baihan didn’t know Su Nuo had wanted to confess because of him. He thought that since filming had wrapped today, the kid didn’t want to leave Wei Sinian.
After all, Wei Sinian was always right next to his kid. It was hard to ignore. Even just now, he’d been waiting with him.
What exactly was going on between the two of them?
Just thinking about how, in such a short shoot, Wei Sinian had bewitched his kid this much made Fu Baihan want to use his entertainment company to go after Wei Sinian.
Su Nuo pouted. “Brother, you’re hurting me.”
Fu Baihan let go right away. “Sorry.”
The moment he let go, Su Nuo jumped up and started hitting him. “Why are you being so scary? Are you trying to hit me?”
Fu Baihan: “…No.”
Fu Baihan knew he was helpless against Su Nuo. Even if Su Nuo really did want to date Wei Sinian, no matter how much he hated it, he couldn’t win. His kid was sweet, but if he ever rebelled, there was nothing Fu Baihan could do except give in. After all, he couldn’t bear not to.
Su Nuo huffed. “I don’t like Wei Sinian.”
Sure, he did have a soft spot for that type. But after everything in his past life, he’d never give those men a second look, let alone think about them that way.
They were all fish in Su Yujin’s pond. He didn’t want them.
There were so many men in the world. Was he really worried about not finding someone better?
He had backing now!
“Brother, don’t believe rumors and don’t spread them. I’ll have tons of co-stars in the future. Don’t go pairing me up with people.”
Fu Baihan was exasperated. “I’m the one pairing you up?”
“Anyway, there’s no one I like yet,” Su Nuo concluded.
