Add in the cost of a new phone and a replacement SIM card, and his host now had a grand total of eighty-five yuan left.
Song Liang considered this.
“Actually, eighty-five yuan could still buy me a decent meal.”
3085 sneered. 【And then you can eat shit for the next one.】
Song Liang: “…”
Song Liang felt this wasn’t his fault. The original owner was the one to blame.
Over the past few days, he had gradually inherited some of the original owner’s memories and discovered that this rich heir wasn’t just a simp. He was a sucker, too. Besides constantly buying gifts and flowers for Xiao Ji, he supported a whole pack of so-called friends who treated him like an ATM.
They clearly looked down on him for being an illegitimate son, yet deliberately encouraged him to pursue Xiao Ji, offering all sorts of advice just so they could watch him make a fool of himself.
The original owner had thought they truly considered him a friend. Deeply touched, he had handed over his money with cheerful abandon. Eight out of every ten people in his WeChat conversations were asking him for money. Not one had paid him back.
“Heh…”
Song Liang yawned, shut down the computer, and headed outside.
3085 startled. 【It’s not even dark yet. Where are you going?】
Song Liang put on his newly purchased baseball cap and pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek.
“To collect some debts.”
Useless as the original owner had been, his dedication as a simp was beyond question. He was such a poor student that he couldn’t even pass math, yet he had managed to get into Jianglin University’s oil painting program through the arts admissions exams—all so he could attend the same university as Xiao Ji.
Fortunately, the Song family had no shortage of money. Mrs. Song was also delighted that he had chosen a subject with nothing to do with business. And so he had spent three years at the same university as Xiao Ji, fawning over him for all three, until Song Liang took over his body at Xiao Ji’s engagement banquet.
Walking through the Jianglin University campus, Song Liang asked the system in his head, “Now that I’ve taken over this body, where did the original Song Liang go?”
【His consciousness data will be retrieved by the main system, restructured, and deployed into other scenarios.】
“Pretty eco-friendly.”
He had barely finished speaking when someone stepped into his path. A girl with long hair smiled and held out her phone.
“Hey, you’re really handsome. Can I add you on WeChat?”
“…”
Song Liang glanced at the friend QR code on her screen, opened WeChat, and scanned it.
“Sure.”
Her smile brightened. Opening the friend request screen, she asked, “What’s your name, handsome? I’ll save it.”
“Song Liang.”
“…”
She paused, then smiled again.
“What a coincidence. There’s a Song Liang in my department, too.”
“What department are you in?” he asked.
“Oil painting. Class of ’25.”
“Me too.”
“…”
Her smile faltered.
“Huh?”
Song Liang opened the class WeChat group, found his profile picture, and held the phone out to her.
“I’m that Song Liang.”
She stared at him in disbelief. Fear crept across her face, and her voice began to tremble.
“… Aren’t you dead?”
Song Liang: “… Who told you that?”
She looked even more frightened. Finally, she checked the shadow at his feet, then looked back at his face. Once she was certain he was the Song Liang she knew, she answered shakily.
“… Your roommate said so. He said you went to Xiao Ji’s engagement banquet to confess your love, got rejected, and jumped into the sea to die for him.”
“Which roommate?”
“Duan Yan.”
